This week, while I was being transformed into a human pin cushion, my acupuncturist generously offered her thoughts on the upcoming Chinese New Year. She explained her (personal?) belief that when snow falls in the couple of days following the Lunar New Year, it means that spring is near. ‘Snow is a good omen’, she went on, ‘it is said to preserve the earth’s energies and hints at a fertile and abundant year ahead.’
