The Story of You Fundamentals Workskhop
'We don't always realise that we're the authors of our stories and can change the way we're telling them.
Your life isn't just a list of events.
You can edit, interpret and retell your story, even as you're constrained by the facts.'
Most of us can feel it. The gap between who we are and how we come across. We leave a conversation, a pitch, an introduction, and something doesn't feel quite right. Not because we lack ability or substance. But because the story we're telling, to others and to ourselves, isn't quite telling the truth. This is not a communication problem. It's a story problem.
Communications consultant and story coach Anne Mühlethaler invites you to explore the art of communicating your true value to the world using storytelling as your most effective tool.
Sharing what truly matters and why becomes a means of connecting with others, moving the conversation beyond what you do to who you are.
Anne’s mission is to empower you to tell a better story: whether that means reclaiming or reframing your narrative.
Because you and your story matter.
Your ability to share who you are holds the key to deeper connections,
stronger relationships and ultimately achieving your goals.
A bespoke storytelling framework
The Story of You is a methodology built on this insight: before you can express yourself clearly to others, you need to be able to see yourself clearly. But do you know what your story is made of?
Most of us are carrying narratives we inherited, we lean on borrowed parts of our identity (a job title, a company name) to express who we are, and when things change, suddenly our own story shifts along with it. When we pivot in our lives, we often edit out big parts of who we are. We lead with what's safe rather than what's true. What's simple. But it also feels like we are sharing a reduced version of ourselves.
The work is part discovery, part retrieval. And it begins with understanding why story matters, why it's hard to talk about ourselves, and how values-based stories can help us connect to ourselves and others.
What you'll work with
Story — the oldest technology humans have for making meaning, collaboration and connection. Not storytelling as performance (though we borrow from this at times) but story as the way we understand ourselves and are understood by others.
Values — because the stories that resonate are the ones spoken from the core of who you are. Not what sounds good. What's actually true.
Discernment — the capacity to evaluate your own narrative. To ask: does this story nourish me, or deplete me? Is it mine, or did I inherit it?
The Fundamentals Workshop
A two-hour live session that is the starting point of this exploration.
With this workshop, understand that you won't leave with a finished pitch or a forever story. You'll leave with an understanding of why it's been hard, a framework for working with your own narrative, and the first real excavation of the stories that matter most.
Most people spend years thinking they have a communication problem. In two hours, you'll understand what's actually going on, and begin to change your relationship to how you talk about yourself.
What happens
Over two hours, you'll use visualisation, journaling, and small group sharing to surface relevant experiences and turn them into stories that illuminate who you are and what matters to you. You'll leave with the beginning of a clearer self-narrative, a clearer understanding of your values, and a framework for continuing the journey.
Our flow (120 minutes):
Welcome and settling in
Introduction to resonant storytelling
Exploring narrative empathy
Guided reflection to surface peak experiences
Small group work — practicing authentic sharing in a safe container
Integration and framework for ongoing application
Closing circle
This workshop is for you if
- You're proud of your multiple identities but struggle to put them together coherently
- You're navigating a transition and the old story doesn't fit anymore
- You hold back in certain contexts, unsure how to show all of who you are
- You want to understand what actually matters to you — not as ideas, but through moments you've lived
- You're ready to begin the work of self-reflection, not skip to the "how do I sell myself" part
What past participants say:
"It was insightful to see that our real values are not necessarily at the surface. We need to go deep down inside of ourselves to see them."
"Anne has the unique ability to act like a human mirror. She comprehends the essence of a person and reflects it back in a way that allows one to see it clearly."

Story Alchemy
A practice circle for those who want to actively explore their inner stories and their outer self-expression. Anne shares a guided meditation, a writing prompt, we journal for 30 minutes and then the space opens up for us to witness each other's explorations. Together we develop our capacity for discernment so we can tell the difference between the stories that serve us and the ones running on old fuel. Available as a standalone session or alongside the workshop. The combined practices of mindfulness meditation and journaling are two of the tools that can help us excavate, then reframe and rewrite the stories we want to tell about ourselves.
Work with Anne 1:1
If you feel ready to explore this work in depth, privately, this is the space for that. With Anne you will unearth the stories, explore their through-line, and craft a narrative that you can lean on, use when you speak about yourself, how you position your work, and how you move forward.
A Resonant Why
Once upon a time, Anne thought storytelling was her kryptonite. But life, as it often does, had other plans. In this essay explores how she built a career on the very thing she thought she was bad at: starting out at Christian Louboutin in London, as a passionate yet introverted Saturday shop assistant, to eventually becoming General Manager, and later on, the brand's first head of Global Communication. Because guess what? Stories bond us together. And they help build brands too. People don't just buy shoes, they buy the "why" behind them.

If you already feel like something's off, if you feel like now is the time to do this work, to honour the fullness of who you are, then this, is the beginning of this work.
